How my purpose drives my approach to life and work
As the founder of DayBalancer, I’ve always been passionate about finding balance. Although, finding balance during new situations is like first learning to ride a bike - it’s HARD!
To help ease those wobbles and reduce the stress of making authentic choices, I learned from successful leaders who’ve shared the importance of exploring and defining a purpose. Answers to “what do I do?!” have been wayyyy easier when they derive from my purpose. Ikigai, a Japanese philosophy that means a reason to live, is a helpful way to visualize purpose.
Purpose serves as a platform for authenticity. It declares a desired impact on others. It helps dictate daily choices. It reduces the cognitive load of how to conduct each day. It shines light on choosing the “right” choice for harder decisions like the relationships or work we choose. It establishes consistency, which then increases trustworthiness. It’s so rich and empowering, it’s the first step in DayBalancing!
My life purpose is to foster a healthy balance in relationship to myself, others, and our planet 🌎 My life purpose drives me to take an intentional approach to my life and work. As this is an ever-evolving process, expect me to tweak it as I learn and grow with those that inspire me 💕
How I approach life:
Acting on what drives me is my favorite morning energy drink. My emotions indicate what is driving me.
Logic takes the backseat to perception, so I focus on how something is perceived first.
Each moment of life is an experiment. I can’t get it wrong because all my past outcomes helped me grow, leading me to better conduct the experiment I’m in now.
How I achieve a goal is as important as the goal itself. Balance is key.
I seek out environments (people, places, and things) that are conducive to my goals. My goals stem from my purpose.
How I approach work:

Also, I absolutely LOVE helping people write personal purpose statements, relationship manifestos (great for rocky roads), career visions (great for getting paid for what you love to do), and organizational visions and missions (great for measuring company principles and culture alignment). For a company vision example, check out the vision for DayBalancer.
